Garissa County is set to experience uninterrupted power supply following the significant upgrade of its Kenya Power substation. The substation has been enhanced to a 38 MVA capacity, a substantial increase from its previous 15 MVA.

• The substation's capacity has more than doubled, increasing from 15 MVA to 38 MVA with the addition of a new 23 MVA transformer.
• Energy Principal Secretary Alex Wachira, along with Garissa Township MP Dekow Mohamed, announced the completion of the upgrade, highlighting promises made by President William Ruto.
• This upgrade aims to end frequent power outages and low voltage issues in Garissa and its environs, and will also facilitate the connection of Dadaab sub county to the national grid.
