Starting July 1, 2026, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) will transition to an automated online system for processing licence applications for vehicles transporting transit and customs-controlled goods. This digital shift aims to reduce paperwork and improve efficiency in cargo monitoring.
- Licence applications will be processed through the Regional Electronic Cargo Tracking System (RECTS) integrated with iCMS.
- Applicants must register on the RECTS platform and upload required documents; the licence fee is Ksh26,000.
- Existing manually issued licences will remain valid until December 31, 2026, providing a transition period.
