Kenya is introducing a new digital traceability system, dubbed "fork-to-plate" surveillance, to enhance accountability and address challenges in its lucrative horticulture export sector.

The system aims to pinpoint the origin of produce when export consignments are rejected due to issues like pest infestations or high pesticide residue levels.
Cornelly Serem, Chairman of the Agricultural Food Authority (AFA), stated the system will improve accountability.
Agriculture is a major foreign exchange earner for Kenya, contributing approximately 34 per cent of the country's agricultural GDP.
