A mother's life has been shattered after her 39-year-old son, Dennis Juma, died from gunshot wounds sustained during the June 2024 Gen Z protests in Kenya.

• Dennis Juma was allegedly shot by a police officer on June 25, 2024, while reportedly on an errand for his employer.
• His mother, Mary Wangechi, 65, described the horrific postmortem findings and her son's dashed promises to lift his family out of poverty.
• The family has reported the incident to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) but has received no concrete communication or action regarding the officer responsible.
