The WHO announced the enrollment of the first patient in the trial on Thursday.
This outbreak has resulted in at least 1,406 confirmed cases and 438 deaths in the DRC as of June 30.
The trial is a collaborative effort involving the WHO, Institut National de Recherche Biomédicale in DRC, the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Belgium, and the University of Oxford in the UK.
