A 25-year-old man has been charged with ethnic contempt and cyber harassment for allegedly inciting non-Muslims in a viral TikTok video. The suspect appeared before the Garissa Law Courts on July 2.

• The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) arrested the suspect on May 16 after concluding an investigation into the video uploaded on April 23.
• The charges were approved by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) under the National Cohesion and Integration Act and the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act.
• The accused was released on a bond of Ksh500,000 or an alternative cash bail of Ksh200,000, with pre-trial set for July 20.
