A TikTok user, Abdi Hassan Abdullahi, also known as “Sharu”, has been charged in the Garissa Law Courts for allegedly inciting religious and ethnic hostility through a viral video.

• Released on a Sh500,000 bond or a Sh200,000 cash bail.
• The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is prosecuting the case involving ethnic and racial contempt and cyber harassment in relation to a video posted on April 23, 2026.
• The charges stem from alleged inflammatory remarks targeting non-Muslims, highlighting the DCI's commitment to combating misuse of social media.
