• The celebration commemorated the end of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, where over one million people were murdered in 100 days.
• Liberation Day, observed annually on July 4, symbolizes Rwanda's triumph of hope over despair and its ongoing journey of development and unity under the theme, 'Rwanda’s Journey Continues'.
