The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has removed excise duty on bottled water, effective July 1, 2026, following amendments to the Excise Duty Act, Cap 472, through the Finance Act, 2026.
- Bottled water manufactured or imported from July 1, 2026, will no longer attract excise duty or require excise stamps.
- The decision impacts all licensed manufacturers and importers of bottled water.
- Previously, manufacturers paid Sh0.50 per excise stamp for bottled water and Sh5.74 per litre for water from vending machines.
