The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has announced that bottled water will no longer be subject to excise duty or require excise stamps. These changes took effect on July 1, 2026.

• Bottled water manufactured or imported on or after July 1, 2026, is exempted from excise duty.
• The exemption follows amendments made to the Excise Duty Act under the Finance Act, 2026.
• Manufacturers are reminded to settle all outstanding excise duty obligations for June 2026 by July 20, 2026.
