Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has announced that Nyayo Stadium will be upgraded with a new canopy as part of the government's ambitious sports infrastructure development program.

The upgrade to Nyayo Stadium, which has a capacity of 30,000, is part of a wider effort to improve existing stadiums.
The announcement was made during an inspection of the nearly completed 60,000-seater Talanta Sports City.
This initiative is part of the "most extensive sports development programme ever initiated in our country," which includes building 31 additional stadiums across Kenya.
