- Nyamita spokesman Kimathi Munjuri stated the initiative is due to the sector's decline since the 2014 ban in the United Kingdom and reduced exports to Somalia.
- The miraa economy is estimated to earn over Sh13 billion annually, but this wealth is not felt locally, with import tax earnings declining from $17.1 million in 2024 to $16.8 million in 2025.
