A Malindi-based politician and two Italian nationals have been charged by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in connection with a fire that destroyed a luxury villa valued at KSh667 million.

• The accused face charges of reckless and negligent conduct causing harm, stemming from an uncontrolled fire started on May 25.
• The individuals involved are a Malindi politician and two Italian nationals, facing the charges before Malindi Resident Magistrate Eva Adhiambo.
• The blaze consumed Duma Villa, a luxury property valued at approximately Ksh667 million, leading the court to order the confiscation of the accused's passports until the case is determined.
