The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) has identified overloaded commercial trucks as the primary cause of damage to the 60-kilometre Ngong-Suswa Road.

• The road, built at a cost of Ksh3.9 billion, was designed for a maximum axle load of 10 tonnes but is being used by trucks carrying up to 50 tonnes.
• KeRRA, the authority responsible for rural roads, is implementing measures including a virtual weighbridge to enforce compliance.
• Motorists have expressed concerns over the road's condition despite significant investment, with severe potholes causing safety hazards.
