The Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) has identified persistent overloading by heavy commercial vehicles as the primary cause of damage to sections of the Ngong-Suswa Road.

• The road was designed for a maximum axle load of 10 tonnes, but some vehicles have been carrying loads up to 50 tonnes.
• KeRRA is conducting phased maintenance and has intensified enforcement of axle load limits.
• A virtual weighbridge has been installed at Ngong-Suswa-Ewaso-Kedong to monitor compliance, with violators already facing arrest and charges.
