In Tana River County, Kenya, the Coast Water Works Development Agency (CWWDA) is investing Sh 185 million in water harvesting projects to combat decades of water scarcity affecting thousands of households and livestock.
- The projects include the Sheli Water Supply Project, slated to serve over 300 households, and the Bangale 1 and 2 Water Pans, which will enhance water storage for domestic use and livestock.
- The CWWDA, a Government agency, is spearheading these initiatives, aiming to improve water security, public health, and socio-economic development.
- These efforts are transforming lives by reducing the burden on women and children, allowing children more time for education, and enabling women to pursue income-generating activities.
