Members of the Dock Workers Union (DWU) are set to benefit from a newly registered Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for the 2024/2027 period, after a delay in clearance from the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

  • The 2024/2027 CBA, signed between Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) and DWU, was registered on July 7, with salaries negotiated on absolute figures rather than percentages.
  • Under the new CBA, the lowest paid docker in KPA 10 category will now earn Sh53,715, with transport allowances also significantly increased across various grades, such as Sh15,000 for KPA 10.
  • The registration comes as the union prepares for fresh elections on August 13, following a court order nullifying the controversial April 4 elections.
