Kenya Railways has responded to concerns raised by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua regarding the safety of the Nairobi-Nyahururu train. The railway operator insists the train remains operational and safe for passengers and freight.

• The train runs from Nairobi to Nyahururu every Tuesday and Friday, with return services on Wednesday and Sunday.
• The Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader, Rigathi Gachagua, urged residents to avoid the train, claiming its reintroduction was politically motivated and unsafe, citing a lack of signage.
• The Gilgil-Ol Kalou-Nyahururu railway line, inactive for nearly 45 years, was officially reopened on June 2, 2026.
