The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is set to drastically reduce processing times for the Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), formerly known as the Certificate of Good Conduct, from 14 days to just one day starting Monday, July 20, 2026.
- The new processing time will be one day, a significant improvement from the previous 14 days.
- This change is driven by the upgrade of the system from the Automated Palm and Fingerprint Identification System (APFIS) to the Multi-Biometric Identification System (MBIS).
- The MBIS has a much larger storage capacity of up to 10 million records compared to the old system's 2 million, allowing for faster matching and reduced backlog.
