Gachagua: Ol Kalou win signals Ruto one-term presidency - July 2026

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has stated that the outcome of the Ol Kalou by-election indicates President William Ruto will only serve a single term, following the victory parade for the newly elected Ol Kalou MP-elect Sammy Kamau Waweru. UDA National Organising Secretary Vincent Kawaya has separately stated that the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election results are not indicative of the 2027 presidential election outcomes. Political analysts have said the Ol Kalou by-election result signals trouble for Ruto in Mt Kenya region. Embu town came to a standstill as youths celebrated the DCP's Ol Kalou win. The Maa Council of Elders has issued a stern warning threatening to withdraw their backing for President William Ruto in the upcoming 2027 General Election.
