After a 17-year delay and a successful test run, Isiolo's Sh1 billion abattoir is set to officially open next week, heralding a new era for livestock processing in the region.

• The facility, a joint venture between the county government (Sh538 million) and the national government (Sh451 million), can process 300 cattle, 100 camels, and 2,500 sheep/goats per eight-hour shift.
• Key individuals involved include Isiolo Livestock Chief Officer Godana Dida and Project Manager James Munyoki, who highlighted its adherence to international standards.
• The abattoir boasts a state-of-the-art wastewater management system capable of recycling over 2 million liters daily, with the treated water intended for irrigation.
