The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has introduced new licensing requirements for companies importing and distributing communications equipment, effective immediately.

• All entities must now obtain a Communications Equipment Distributor (CED) Licence before importing equipment.
• This new rule applies to existing Telecommunications Equipment Contractor (TEC) and Vendor licence holders who import or distribute.
• The move is part of the CA's implementation of the revised telecommunications market framework published through Gazette Notice No. 3335 on March 6, 2026.
