Photographers from East Africa have been recognized at the Safal Eye in the Wild Photography Competition 2026 for their powerful images documenting environmental challenges like drought, deforestation, and glacier loss.

• Ugandan Peter Kuloba won the Gold Award for his photograph of a cracking glacier on Mount Stanley.
• Kenyan photographers Paolo Torchio (Silver) and Kush Shah (Bronze) were honored for images depicting a dying elephant during a severe drought and a lion against storm clouds, respectively.
• Vincent Chepkwony of Kenya received the People's Choice Award for a photo of a community tree nursery working to restore the Mau Forest.
