The Luo Council of Elders is planning to appoint a new patron following the death of Raila Odinga, and has announced dates for the Piny Luo Cultural Festival.

• The council is in the final stages of appointing a new patron and will announce the individual soon.
• The fifth Piny Luo Cultural Festival will be held in Kisumu from December 14-16, 2026, under the theme "Celebrating the Luo Cultural Evolution and Dynamism."
• Plans are also underway to commemorate the first anniversary of Raila Odinga's death in October, and the council expressed appreciation for the ongoing construction of the Raila Odinga Museum.
