Kenya is set to attempt a Guinness World Record for "Most people planting mangrove trees simultaneously" on Sunday, July 26, in an event far exceeding a mere record attempt, according to Chief Conservator of Forests, Alex Lemarkoko.

An anticipated 5,000 participants will converge at the Jomvu Mangrove Ecosystem in Mombasa County.
The event is a collaboration between the Kenya Forest Service (KFS) and the Kenya Scouts Association (KSA).
The initiative aims to strengthen climate action, restore ecosystems, protect livelihoods, and contribute to the government's target of 15 billion trees by 2032.
