Kirinyaga tea farmers are set to benefit from a Ksh. 360 million specialty tea processing factory, a project aimed at tapping into the growing global demand for premium teas.

The steamed Green Tea Factory is a joint initiative by the Kenya Tea Development Authority (KTDA) and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe highlighted the government's commitment to enhancing tea processing efficiency and farmer returns.
The factory, which is the first of its kind in the region, will also serve as a centre of excellence for training in green and specialty tea processing.
