The Central Organisation of Trade Unions (Kenya) (COTU) has strongly opposed a reported plan by the Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) to deploy National Youth Service (NYS) personnel for airport security roles.

• COTU is warning against the replacement of permanent workers with insecure labour.
• Key figure Dr Francis Atwoli, COTU Secretary General, called the plan "immoral and illegal."
• The dispute emerges as the Kenya Aviation Workers Union (KAWU) is proceeding with a strike notice over unresolved labour disputes, including 11 years without a new Collective Bargaining Agreement for KCAA employees.
