Senator Jackson Mandago has been acquitted in the Sh1.1 billion Uasin Gishu County Overseas Education Programme case, leaving hundreds of parents who lost money in the botched scheme with diminished hope for refunds.

• The court found insufficient evidence to prove conspiracy or theft by Mandago and his co-accused, Joshua Lelei and Meshack Rono.
• Affected parents, who invested their savings and property, expressed dissatisfaction and vowed to continue demanding refunds from the Uasin Gishu County Government.
• Victims are planning demonstrations and have petitioned President William Ruto to fulfill his pledge to help them recover their funds and pursue their education dreams.
