Kirinyaga County has been recognized as the top-performing county in Kenya, according to the Thematic Governors Performance Index 2022-2026 by research firm Politrack Africa.
- Kirinyaga County achieved a composite score of 61.5 per cent, excelling in agriculture, health, water management, and public satisfaction under the leadership of Governor Anne Waiguru.
- The survey, which sampled 3,000 respondents between July 13 and 17, rated counties on devolved functions, with Kisii County and Narok and Machakos counties following in second and third place respectively.
- Key initiatives contributing to Kirinyaga's success include the Sagana Agro-Industrial Park, an e-voucher system for farmers, and upgrades to local hospitals and water projects, resulting in the highest public satisfaction score of 68 per cent.
