- A former Kilifi County government employee, Eddlied Mandi Jilani, and two others, Charo Ngira Karisa and Ruwa Makonde Buni, were found guilty of the 2018 murder of businessman Issack Kassim Jiraw.
- The victim, Issack Kassim Jiraw, had paid more than Sh1.9 million to Mandi, who claimed she could help him secure a Chief Officer position in the Kilifi County government.
- The murder stemmed from Jiraw's demands for a refund after the promised appointment failed to materialize. The victim's body was found on March 18, 2018, and the postmortem revealed death by strangulation, with the body doused in acid.
