Kapchorua Tea Kenya is planning to install a 1.17-megawatt (MW) solar power plant in Nandi County to reduce its electricity expenses and enhance energy consistency.

• The proposed solar plant will be erected at Kapchorua Farm to power the company's black tea processing factory.
• The project is being developed by Ariya Energy Limited and awaits approval from the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).
• The application for the electricity generation licence is open for public comment until September 1, 2026.
