A man accused of murdering a fellow patient at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) has pleaded not guilty after the High Court declared him mentally fit to stand trial, ending months of legal delays.

• The accused, Kennedy Kalombotole, faces charges for the murder of Gilbert Kinyua Muthoni between February 6 and 7, 2025.
• A panel of three psychiatrists from Mathare National Teaching and Referral Hospital unanimously found Kalombotole fit to understand proceedings.
• The murder trial is scheduled to commence on October 26, 2026, with the prosecution intending to call approximately 20 witnesses.
