A nationwide health workers' strike has entered its second day, significantly disrupting services in public hospitals across Kenya as more healthcare professionals join the walkout.

• Patients are being turned away, with significant drops in daily patient numbers and disruptions to critical services like blood transfusions and disease surveillance.
• The strike involves members of the Kenya National Union of Nurses, Kenya Union of Clinical Officers, Kenya Environmental Health and Public Health Practitioners Union, and Kenya National Union of Medical Laboratory Officers.
• Key demands include the implementation of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), payment of gratuity for Universal Health Coverage (UHC) workers, promotions, and conversion of contract staff to permanent terms, affecting numerous counties including Nairobi, Embu, Murang’a, Mombasa, Lamu, and across the Rift Valley and South Rift regions.
