Carrefour Kenya, KCB Bank Kenya, and Mastercard have launched a new prepaid grocery shopping card. The card, unveiled on 30 July 2026 at Carrefour's East Africa offices in Nairobi, allows users to load funds for spending exclusively at Carrefour stores.

• Key figures involved in the launch included Gabriel Swanepoel (Mastercard's Africa division), John Wagacha (Head of FMCG at KCB), and Rachid Nouri (Finance Vice President at Majid Al Futtaim Retail).
• The initiative aims to control spending for intended purposes and potentially attract funds from Kenyans abroad, mirroring past remittance trends where overseas Kenyans sent home USD 5.04 billion in 2025.
