The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is transitioning cargo clearance to a blockchain-based platform, the Trade Logistics Information Pipeline (TLIP), aiming to replace paper documents with a shared digital record.

• Starting August 3, 2026, containerized shipments to Kenyan ports require an Advance Cargo Declaration (ACD) reference code before loading.
• This change aims to streamline processes, reduce paperwork, and enhance data security by involving clearing agents, logistics companies, and government agencies in one digital system.
• Developed by TradeMark Africa with the IOTA Foundation, TLIP was funded by the Netherlands and the UK, with a pilot successful in reducing documentation for flower exports.
