The Kenya Navy successfully rescued 41 people after a cargo dhow, the SIRI YA MAFANIKIO, began taking on water off the coast of Kwale on August 3.

• 41 individuals, including 11 crew and 30 passengers from Kenya and Tanzania, were safely evacuated.
• The Kenya Navy's Shimoni Special Boats Unit (SBU), part of the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF), executed the swift rescue operation.
• The dhow was en route from Shimoni to Pemba when it started sinking approximately 1.5 nautical miles off Mpunguti ya Juu Island.
