Somalia's Second Deputy Prime Minister Jibril Abdirashid Haji has surrendered his Kenyan passport and identification documents following a directive from Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

• The directive requires ministers and senior officials holding Kenyan identification to relinquish them or resign from office.
• Jibril Abdirashid Haji presented the documents to Kenya’s Deputy Ambassador to Somalia, Elias Bare Shill, on Monday, August 3.
• This action follows reports of immigration-related tensions between Kenya and Somalia and a previous incident where Haji was reportedly denied entry into Kenya in June.
