Kirinyaga-based blogger Justin Kinyua Mwangi has been arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for alleged hate speech and ethnic contempt on social media.

• The arrest follows an investigation into a Facebook post targeting supporters of President William Ruto in the Mt Kenya region.
• Mwangi, an online political commentator, was apprehended on Tuesday in Wanguru Town, Mwea.
• The DCI stated he will be arraigned in court to face charges under the National Cohesion and Integration Act, emphasizing that freedom of expression does not permit sowing division.
