President William Ruto has ordered private security firms to pay their guards at least the statutory minimum wage and warned of a crackdown on non-compliance.

President William Ruto directed the Private Security Regulatory Authority, Ministry of Interior, and Ministry of Labour to enforce the directive.
Guards must receive at least the 15 per cent minimum wage increase, with some currently earning as low as Sh6,000, which the President deemed "unlawful and inhumane."
The President also mandated the remittance of statutory deductions for healthcare and retirement, and highlighted opportunities for homeownership through the Affordable Housing Programme.
