Uganda is mourning the death of SC Villa captain and national team player David Owori, 27, who was fatally assaulted by suspected robbers in Kampala on Tuesday night.

• Owori was beaten after reportedly resisting an attempt to steal his mobile phone and belongings.
• The victim was an Emember of SC Villa, a record Uganda Premier League champion, and also represented Uganda's national team, the Cranes.
• His death, attributed to injuries sustained from paving stones, has sparked grief and renewed anger over violent crime in Uganda, occurring weeks after another rugby international was also killed in a similar attack.
