The Northern Corridor Transit and Transport Coordination Authority (NCTTCA) has secured $200,000 in fresh funding from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to promote cleaner freight transport across East Africa.

• The funding aims to implement the Northern Corridor Green Freight Strategy 2030, focusing on greenhouse gas emissions tracking and port electrification.
• Key organizations involved include the NCTTCA and UNEP, with existing support from partners like Germany's GIZ and the Kühne Climate Centre, which have already mobilized approximately $1.6 million.
• A significant component of the new funding will support a feasibility study on electrifying operations at the Port of Mombasa, a crucial hub for the Northern Corridor trade route.
