Tanzania has enacted new regulations requiring businesses operating on social media to publicly display their tax identification details on their profiles.

• Businesses on social media must now display their Tax Identification Number (TIN) or Tax Clearance Certificate on their profiles.
• This new requirement stems from the Tax Administration (General) (Amendment) Regulations, 2026, effective from 1 July 2026.
• The Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) introduced the amendment to facilitate easier inspection and enforcement of tax compliance among online businesses.
