The governor insists the rally will proceed as planned, emphasizing the right to assemble and speak freely. He declared that no amount of threats will prevent Linda Mwananchi from holding their rally in Homa Bay. Organizers of the Linda Mwananchi rally have officially notified the police of their planned event on August 16, 2026, with notification to be formally lodged at the Homa Bay Police Station. Separately, Kisumu County Bunge La Wananchi has accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of politicising the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga for political gain ahead of the 2027 General Election.
