Google has launched a new file-sharing feature called Tap to share, integrated into Quick Share, enabling direct file transfers between Android phones simply by tapping them together.

• The feature uses Near Field Communication (NFC) to initiate transfers, with files then sent via Wi-Fi Direct.
• This functionality is initially rolling out on Pixel devices, starting with the Pixel 6 and newer models running Android 17.
• While similar to Apple's AirDrop, Tap to share is currently limited to Android-to-Android sharing, though future compatibility with other brands like Samsung is planned.
