A shootout in Machakos County on Friday, August 14, resulted in the death of one suspected gangster during a confrontation with Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives.

• One suspect was killed after opening fire on detectives attempting to intercept their vehicle.
• The DCI is pursuing a second suspect who escaped the scene.
• Recovered items include an AK-47 rifle stolen in November 2025, eight mobile phones, and crime tools.
