Seven people were tragically killed and dozens injured after a matatu carrying family members to a dowry ceremony veered off the road and plunged down a steep slope in Kibwezi, Makueni County on Friday evening.

• Seven fatalities confirmed, with approximately 41 survivors treated at Makueni County Referral Hospital and 28 at Matiliku Sub-county Hospital.
• The vehicle was traveling from Mbongoni towards Kalembwani when the accident occurred near a diversion.
• A multi-agency rescue operation was initiated, involving the Kenya Red Cross, county disaster management officials, and police officers.
