The Water Services Regulatory Board (WASREB) has approved new water tariffs for residents in Kisii, Eldoret, Narok, and Murugi Mugumango towns. These adjustments, effective for the 2026/2027 to 2028/2029 financial years, follow applications for tariff reviews.

  • In Murugi Mugumango, domestic consumers using up to six cubic metres will now pay Ksh25 per unit, an increase from Ksh113 for every six units.
  • Eldoret is an exception, with its water utility, ELDOWAS, receiving a downward revision to Ksh84 per cubic metre for low-end domestic consumers, down from Ksh130.
  • WASREB, the sector regulator, stated that public consultations were conducted in each area before the new rates were approved, as required by the Water Act.
