Morocco has enacted a new legal framework for the protection and management of stray animals, Law No. 19.25, which entered into force on August 14.

• The law establishes a national system for managing stray dogs and cats, combining animal protection with public health risk prevention.
• Key features include the creation of reception and care centers, an animal registration system, and a national database, presented by the Minister Delegate in charge of Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, Mustapha Baitas.
• This legislation is particularly significant ahead of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-organize, addressing international criticism regarding animal welfare and pressure to abandon culling methods.
