A Wajir magistrate court has ruled that a 10-year-old girl will remain in the custody of her foster mother, Ms Habiba Hassan, despite DNA evidence confirming she belongs to another family. The court granted joint legal guardianship to both Ms Hassan and the claimant, Ms Kadija Mustafa, until the child turns 18.

• DNA tests conducted in September 2025 linked the child biologically to children under Ms Mustafa's care.
