The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has officially set May 29, 2027, as the earliest date for presidential campaigns to begin for the 2027 General Election, despite significant pre-campaign political activity already underway across Kenya.

The official campaign period is scheduled to run from May 29, 2027, until August 7, 2027, 48 hours before Election Day.
Key political figures such as former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, former Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and President William Ruto are all actively engaging in early mobilization efforts.
The IEBC has warned that any campaigning outside the prescribed period, including displaying posters or holding rallies, will be considered unlawful.
